Small dogs do not want a crate, a sling, or a bag that looks like luggage. They want contact. And if you have ever carried one through an airport, around a market, or at a friend's house for an hour, you already know what that costs your shoulder.
The Carrier Hoodie is an oversized sherpa fleece pullover with a pouch built into the front. She sits inside, against your chest, head out through the drawstring opening. Your hands are free. She is exactly where she wanted to be.
How it works
- The pouch is a lined compartment inside the body of the hoodie, not a pocket stuck on the outside. Her weight sits against your torso, where you can actually carry it.
- A round opening with a drawstring at the front. Her head comes through, you pull it to the size you want.
- Pullover, no front zip. Hood, long sleeves, drawstring hem.
- Not using it as a carrier today? Pull the drawstring shut and it is a normal oversized fleece hoodie.
Who this is for
Dogs and cats you can already pick up and hold comfortably in one arm. A Chihuahua, a Yorkie, a Dachshund, a small terrier, a Frenchie puppy, a cat.
If your dog fills your lap, this is the wrong product and we would rather you spent the money elsewhere. Not sure? Email us the breed and the weight before you order. Talking you out of it costs us less than a return costs both of us.
Sizing — it runs oversized on purpose
The pouch needs slack to work, so the cut is deliberately roomy. A US 4 measures 45 inches around the bust. Order your normal size for the oversized look in the photos, or go down one if you want it closer to the body.

Honest notes
- It is a carrier for short stints — a terminal, the shops, the sofa. It is not a safety restraint and it is not for use in a car.
- Never leave your dog alone in it, and do not wear it while cycling, running or riding a motorbike.
- Machine wash cold, hang dry. Dog hair lifts off it with a lint roller like any fleece.
- Army green and black at launch. More colours once we know these two sell.

How long will it take to get here?
Your order is passed to our supplier straight away. They pack it within 1–6 business days, then it is 5–11 days in transit. Most orders land 10 to 20 days after you place them. You get a tracking number by email the moment it ships and you can watch it the whole way.
We ship from our supplier, usually overseas, which is why this is not two-day delivery. It is also why the price is what it is. If you need something by a specific date, buy it locally instead — we would rather say that now.
What if I order the wrong size?
Every page carries the real measurements. Go by the chart rather than the photo and read the sizing note — it tells you which way to go if you are between two sizes. If it still arrives wrong, that is exactly what the 30 nights are for. Email us and we will sort it.
Who am I buying from?
Gentle Hounds is a small independent store in Saint Paul, Minnesota. Orders are packed and shipped directly by our supplier, so the parcel will not come from our address. Support is an inbox we read ourselves, and we reply within one business day.
